PHOTOCOPIER AT FIREFRONT

19 AUGUST 2013, SWAN HILL, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
Summary
Dodgshun Medlin has donated a top of the line photocopier to assist Swan Hill fire fighters in need. “There’s more to our team infrastructure than being at the fireface,” says CFA’s Swan Hill Captain Dennis Turner.

When you think of the CFA, it’s of a grime-streaked volunteer facing down a raging bushfire. You don’t think of that same bloke standing by a photocopier. And yet a simple piece of tech like a photocopier helps the CFA save property, crops, stock and lives.
“There’s more to our team infrastructure than being at the fireface,” says CFA’s Swan Hill Captain Dennis Turner.

“We have to be able to distribute pre-planned forms, maps and reports – call it the ‘intelligence’ division of what we do. Without these plans and ability to communicate clearly and frequently on paper, we’re less effective, and that means greater risk for everyone and everything involved.”

“So we sure do need trucks, hoses, safety gear, communications and all the bits you see. And we are so grateful for community support – through our fundraisers – that makes this equipment available,” he said, “but you know, there is also the back-room side of it, the support systems.”

For the backroom HQ, Chartered Accountants Dodgshun Medlin has donated a high-output photocopier.

“In a way it’s what we do,” says Mark Dodgshun. “We are conscious of what happens at the front but also realise there have to be systems that bring it all together.”
“Full marks to Murray Valley Office National,” says Dodgshun, “They told us about the need and have offered to service the photocopier FOC. It’s the company’s Service Manager, Donavan Graham who made the request and arranged the solution,” he said.
